HBO has done this before (to great success) with the series True Detective (2014)
Tale
The exploits of various guests and employees of a luxury resort over the course of a week. HBO has renewed the series for a second season despite the show being conceived as a one-season limited series. The show is said to be an anthology-style series with new characters for each season.
Appeared in Jeremy Vine: Episode No
4,175 (2021). Yes, almost all of the characters are extremely unlikeable, but I think that’s the charm of The White Lotus. You can definitely still see the motivations of each of them and I feel like the writers were very aware of the stereotypes they put into each main character.
The music was pretty great and set a very specific tone for the series
The comedy was spot on for me, but it might be disappointing for people who prefer punchlines. The story is pretty good, but my main criticism is that it makes you think that all the side story characters would come together at some point, but I didn’t think it did this in a satisfying way. The different groups only interact with each other in a few scenes, and with very few exceptions, the encounters make virtually no difference to the plot.
Great main characters and a pretty good plot
Also, some of the side encounters don’t make sense, like the quick appearance of the pregnant woman from the first episode. I’m still trying to figure out what the hell she was doing there. Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who likes satirical comedy.
