In the field of cinematography and screenwriting, it is recommended to limit the narration of characters, allowing actions, conversations and scenes to speak for themselves. However, if there is an exception, it is known under the name Dexter! From the very beginning, I was fascinated by the character of Dexter – a dark, withdrawn person.
Seasons 1 and 2 stood out, earning a commendable 9/10
The strength of the character development was evident, supported by impeccable casting and an engaging, crime-filled storyline. However, the quality of the show subsequently began to decline. The introduction of new characters and excessive drama weighed down what was once a classic series. Despite my love for the character, I felt a gradual decline in his charm, including Debra’s charm.
However, I must emphasize that the first two seasons are mandatory viewing and cannot be missed
The script and direction were solid, but Dexter himself took center stage as his depiction of dark humor remained the standout aspect. His narration throughout the episodes presented a unique perspective through which we learned how he perceived things, people and crimes; it was absolutely fascinating. I recommend this series, but encourage viewers to watch it at their own pace and choose the number of seasons they want to watch.
